About Neil West

Neil is a film writer and director working in fiction. He has just completed production on a recent feature film that he wrote and directed which was shot during May 2025.

His feature film - CONTAINMENT - is available on NETFLIX in the UK and received widespread acclaim from international publications including THE GUARDIAN, EMPIRE MAGAZINE, TOTAL FILM, THE METRO, THE RADIO TIMES, STARBURST and several more.

Neil was Trained by renowned film director Ken Russel and runs a prestigious practical filmmaking course at one of the most well regarded international film schools in the world.

Neil’s initial breakthrough was when his 30 minute drama UNDERTOW was featured by Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian’s - on his Cannes Film Festival blog. Neil’s subsequent feature film, CONTAINMENT, received a nationwide theatrical release.

Recent projects as Producer include THE MONSTER IN THE BED starring Tracey-Ann Oberman, Timothy West and Annette Badland and GIRL TUESDAY - an award winning comedy about love and missed opportunities.

Neil’s recent proof of concept - CHIMERA - is currently playing at film festivals around the world. Chimera is a proof of concept for Upcoming feature film - PINWHEEL - which has been written by CONTAINMENT screenwriter David Lemon and is being produced by OSCAR winning producer, Julie Foy.

Neil is also currently developing a science fiction television series with writer/director Dan Turner entitled THE SALESMAN.
